So you are thinking of adopting a pet!  Congratulations!

The good news is that there are quite a few Adoption Options here in Nova Scotia:

  • Rescue Groups
  • Breed Rescues
  • The Nova Scotia SPCA
  • Trap Neuter Return Groups
  • Animal Control
  • and Private Adoptions

Helpful Hint:   Even if you haven't found your new best friend yet, its a great idea to put in a preapproved adoption application.  Why?

  • 'Popular' pets that are in high demand, such as puppies, purebreds and well behaved small dogs often never get listed as there are already good preapproved homes on the waiting list
  • Rescuers pull out all the stops for potential adopters and will often network to help you find the pet of your dreams
  • In a world where there are at least twelve pets waiting for every rescue slot,  the pet of your dreams is more likely to be rescued if there is a good home already waiting.
  • And of course it will save time and suspense when you are sure you have found your new best friend.
