FAQs

I want to adopt a pet on this site!   How do I do that?

Contact links for all adoptable pets are included in all pictures, including the slideshows.   Please contact the rescue or shelter - this site exists to promote pet adoption and does not actively engage in the adoption process.

My Rescue or Shelter is not listed on this site!

Please contact the webmaster if you feel you have been overlooked.  Please note that this is a private project and that all listings are subject to the Webmaster's discretion.

My Rescue was listed and now it is not!

While every effort is made to be impartial, repeated complaints to the webmaster from reliable sources will result in the removal of listings.   These can include, but are not limited to, poor practices such as ignoring adopters trying to return an adoptee that hasn't turned out to be a good fit, refusing to take back such pets, and hiding known medical or behavior issues

I don't agree with some of the information on this site

And that is your right in this democratic society we live in!

Why did you switch to slideshows for the Someone to Love section?

Two reasons.  First of course is that in these days when bandwidth may become an issue, the J Query slideshows have a much lighter footprint.   Secondly is that many rescues ... as is of course their right .... have different sizes of photos and it is nicest to be able to show the full photo at full size no matter how it is cropped

What about private adoptions?   Can I list my pet with you?

Absolutely.... IF you have arranged a referral listing from a rescue listed on this site!   The webmaster does not have the resources to evaluate pets and cannot in all conscience list unevaluated pets on this site.

Why go to all the trouble to adopt ... when it is much easier to get a pet from free online ads?

When you adopt a pet from a reputable rescue or shelter, there are no surprises.   The pet should be altered, vet checked and vaccinated.   If any reason the adoption is not a success, reputable rescues and shelters will take the pet back.  In short, it is actually easier and cheaper to adopt than to shop!
